Supplements and Progress Piccies

Ok, let's talk supplements! I've worked out off and on for several years, but never really did much in the way of supplementation other than whey protein shakes. In addition to the shakes, I now supplement with a GNC brand multivitamin and fish oil (for omega 3). When I first got started, I also used Lipo6 (a thermogenic fat-burner) to start cutting off some of the excess fluff. I used it for about eight weeks and in combination with diet and exercise, it really did a nice job.

That's still not a lot of supplementation, I'd think. I'm curious as to what anyone else out there may have tried and what they might recommend in addition to what I'm already taking.

I've also decided that it's about time I started posting progress pictures. This will help me keep track of my advances and help serve as motivation, as well. I'll be posting once a month (it's really difficult to see much any more often than that), and the first set will be up on September 1.

Thanks to everyone for the support!

Looking forward to the pictures. Can't help with supplements. Most of what I take is for mature women and I don't think you need that kind of help.LOL Keep up the good work.

I'm looking forward to the pictures too.

Honestly, I take a Flintstone Vitamin! Ha ha!! I'm not really into the supplement thing.

That being said, many of the men at my gym take supplements to help with building muscle. One friend of mine, who does bodybuilding competitions, takes protein, creatine, and glutamine. Another bodybuilding friend takes Hydroxycut- to help take away this "itsy bitsy" layer of fat on his abs.

Another big favorite at the gym to help gain muscle is whey protein.

I'm glad you all are looking forward to the pictures. I'm not quite so sure I am ... hehahaha.

Jeannie, thanks for the comments on supplements. Unfortunately, I can't use creatine (it interferes with the diauretic I'm on for high BP and can cause kidney stones, which I also have problems with from time to time) and I've never tried taking glutamine. I use whey protein daily and I've tried Hydroxycut before, but Lipo6 works much better and cuts the fat much faster (for me, anyway).

Kidney stones, ouch. You have my sympathies. My husband has had one about every other month for the past 37 yrs. If only they were diamonds.

Yeah PW, they're not too much fun. Thankfully, I seem to have a mich higher pain tolerance to them than most people. I did have to have lithotripsy on a large stone last year and that wasn't much fun.

Jeannie, thanks for the tip on the L-Glutomine. I looked into it and it looks like something that will help me. I picked up some at GNC today.

Do let me know how the Glutomine works out. This is very popular at my gym.

Chris- haven't heard from you in awhile. Hope every thing is OK

Pamwax, everything is good, aside from my not having a decent camera to take my progress pictures. I'm working to remedy that here soon. I have been very busy with work and whatnot, but I should have a new post up this evening.

Thanks!
